■ Project Concept
“Your love will augment me.” A smartphone app built on battle girls and love.
Augmented Reality Girls Trinary is a completely new, original smartphone title developed by Koei Tecmo Games‘ Gust brand in collaboration with Toei Animation. By combining an anime and game, this project opens the possibilities for never before seen new content. The anime and game have an equal relationship. “The anime is not a spin-off of the game.” “The game is not derivative of the anime.” The project’s greatest theme is that both the the anime and game are essential.
■ Features
In both the anime and game, there are “girls that exist on the other side of the screen.” In the game, you’ll intervene in the girls’ daily lives through your smartphone, and experience their usual forms and inner thoughts not depicted in the anime. Augmented Reality Girls Trinary is an anime and game in a single smartphone app where you can enjoy both sides of the girls that make up the story.
Four Key Points
- Deep Communication with the Girls – A new sense of communication with the girls through your smartphone. A feeling of “being together” is created in a variety of ways by intervening in the girls’ daily lives, helping them overcome the anxieties and worries they face, etc.
- An All-New Original Story Created by Akira Tsuchiya – An all-new original story created by Ar Tonelico and Surge Concerto series creator Akira Tsuchiya.
- A First – The first complete fusion of an anime and game on your smartphone, creating a new type of gameplay experience.
- High-Quality Animation Every Week – The anime will be distributed each week within the app, free of charge, allowing you to enjoy the anime at any time. You’ll also be able to enjoy the latest episode on YouTube or Niconico. The anime will also be available on paid distribution websites.

■ World Introduction
Setting
In 2016, a giant cocoon suddenly appeared in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Nothing could be confirmed about what it is, even several months after it first appeared, and people branded it the “Phenomenon.”
The only thing known is that those captured and taken within the Phenomenon go mad and start killing each other.
Frustrated, the Japanese government forms a special military force in order to return the Phenomenon to normalcy. Its name: the “Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Information Management Agency Jurisdiction Augmented Reality Special Strategy Unit Special Attack Unit,” also known as—
“Augmented Reality Girls Trinary.”
Phenomenon
A mysterious cocoon that appeared in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Within it is a completely different world where beings known as “Clan” take form.
Clans
Clan are beings that act independently from the subconsciousness of humans, and materialized within the world of the cocoon.
The Trinary
Girls with the ability to use special equipment known as Trigadgets, who have the power to resolve the Phenomenon.
■ Game Elements Introduction
In Augmented Girls Trinary, communication is vital. The game progresses by communicating with the girls on the other side of the screen through your smartphone. Through “understanding and connecting” with the girls, you’ll aim to form a true bond with them.
